So Thankful

Mmmmm... Feeling so thankful for all my many blessings. For my husband, my babies, my kitty, for you. For my dear family, my precious friends, my warm home. For my higher power who grants me serenity and joy. So thankful.

This Day

A new tradition on my blog: taking four photos of our day, this day, whatever day it is. I'll remember that today we had a new nativity set, Ani and Bryni drank hot cocoa after playing outside and Sonja shoveled the whole, entire driveway for her dad, who is sick. This day, just one of the many I never want to forget.

The Christmas Card Shot

We got it! Getting all three of these girls to smile this beautifully at the same exact time is nothing short of a miracle, I tell you. Of course, in truth, they are beautiful no matter their facial expressions, but I look forward to years and years of a perfect, lovely Christmas photo taken on the hearth. It's a tradition now, and I just love it.

Treasure the Doing

"But the biggest mistake I made is the one that most of us make while doing this. I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of the three of them sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages 6, 4 and 1. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less."

More from the Big Easy

We saw alotta fleur de lis. Every. Where.

There were also amazing musicians doing their thang. Every. Where. Oh! Look! Fleur de lis in the background. Shocking.

I really should have gotten a tarot reading from Bill. But I'm too cheap.

Did I mention the amazing musicians? Every. Where.

We had fun. Can you tell?

Big Easy

Loving a few days in New Orleans - some work and some play. When I'm in Heaven, I'll start each day of eternity with beignets and chicory coffee.

I'll spend lots of time stopping. And listening. And interacting with interesting people. Amazingly, interesting people.

And I'll enjoy art in all its forms. Colorful, vibrant paintings of people making music in front of street lights. And people freezing in place on a street. Making their own art form. And making their own light.
