Grateful

The last three weeks were a blur for me! A trip to BBar Ranch for work. A trip to DC for work. A looooong drive to Portland for a niece's wedding. A much shorter drive to the Hiawatha Trail (above). We biked the trail with friends. What a great weekend.

Anyway, it was a busy season, but filled with so many good things that I hardly complained about being tired or overwhelmed. I tried to soak up each moment of these fun events and move gracefully to the next. Amazing progress for me. I'm proud and I'm grateful.

Breathtaking

There were so many moments here in DC that took my breath away.

Coming face-to-face (kind of) with President Lincoln. These were my first moments in DC. *major lump in throat*

Seeing, in person, such an ugly part of our history. Understanding the arbitrary nature of "race" on a deeper level.

Finding my beloved state in the World War II Memorial.

The President's helicopter landing on the South Lawn. I just HAPPENED to be walking by. Feeling incredibly blessed.

The same grand house from the other side at night.

The Capitol lit up in the evening.

The Marine Memorial. Learning this was only Day 5 of the Battle for Iwo Jima. Finding out that one of the Marines was a Native American man who later died of alcoholism by falling in a creek and drowning. Tragedy on so many levels.

And The Wall. The Vietnam War Memorial. Stark. Stoic. Simple. Breathtaking.

Can't Believe I'm Actually Here

I am lucky enough to have had the opportunity to come to Washington, DC, for a few days. I'm loving it so much. Can't believe I'm here. *lump in throat*

Beautiful Beautiful BBar Ranch

I'm so honored and blessed to be spending the weekend in this amazing place. It's a spiritual experience to witness this kind of grandeur.

Laptop Lunch Love

I admit it. I'm a Laptop Lunch nerd. I'm not near as fancy as some people with them, but I do enjoy putting a tasty, pretty lunch together for my girls.

This weekend I sewed up these little cloth napkins to go with their lunches. Two sets for each girl from scraps of fabric I had on hand.

Then I bought these sporks at the sporting goods store. They came in a set of three! Just for my girls.

Here is a photo of the sporks on the napkins in case you were wondering how they would look together.

Then, I bought these salt/pepper shakers at the same sporting goods store. Just. Adorable. And perfect for encouraging them to eat the hard boiled egg I put in their lunch. I love giving them hard boiled eggs: cheap, easy, protein. Perfect.

And here's how it looks all put together. Again, in case you were wondering.

Hot/cold rice packs

Inspired by this post by Skip to My Lou, I made these hot/cold rice packs yesterday. It felt SO GOOD to do a little sewing. Now when my family has an owie needing a little heat or cold, we'll be ready. I'm thinking of making an eye-shaped one just for me...
