Even More from Our Vacay

The Mojave Desert. OMG it was hot. 115 degrees. OMG.

The reason for the trip - my nephew Logan graduated from high school. Here he is with his parents (his dad is my big brother!). Love these peeps.

The Bates Motel at Universal Studios. So cool! Norman came after us with a knife shortly after this photo was taken... It actually did freak me out a little. In a good way.

The Lego store was amazing!

Classic photo at Universal Studios.

The view from my brother's office at L.A. Film School. How cool is that? We don't miss the smog...

More from Our Vacay

My toes in the ocean.

The girls enjoying a read outside the Kamping Kabin.

The ocean - ahhhhhh.

The polar bear at the San Diego Zoo was amazing.

The girls and me next to our favorite ride at Sea World.

Disneyland! A classic pic in front of the castle.

What a whirlwind trip it was! I'm still processing it all - the good, the bad, the ugly (L.A. smog, L.A. traffic, the CROWDS!). We made many family memories that will be with us forever. More photos soon...

Another Garden Tour

It's coming along! I'm sick of weeding already.

The herb wheel is really filling in! I got the three little birds on sale at Costco for $9.97. Such a deal! I love three of just about anything. They remind me of my three precious daughters. (Awww...)

The peas are climbing, and this afternoon, I saw a couple of blossoms.

We've been eating lettuce salads every evening, along with...

...radishes! Here, too, are my sparkly toenails, and my cute rainbow flippy-floppies.

I can't believe how happy the onions are. I need to learn how to best preserve them.

The beans don't like the cool weather. They need some heat! It will come soon, little beans.

I just can't wait for my sunflowers to grow tall and strong, and to bloom! Such a cheery sight.

The chives finally bloomed. Did they ever! I have a bouquet on my kitchen counter. They're like a bright purple burst of pure happiness.

Thanks for coming along on my garden tour. Did I say I was sick of weeding already? It's not so bad. Really.

My Beauties

I'm just so in love with each one of them, and the three of them as a group, and the babies they once were, and the woman they're becoming. So. In. Love.

Cali

We went to California for about 10 days. My nephew's high school graduation, Disneyland, Universal Studios, San Diego Zoo, Sea World, and a trip to my brother's office at The Los Angeles Film School, from which this photo was taken. It was fun, but busy. A "doing" vacation rather than a "relaxing" vacation. Busy, fun, wonderful.

This quilt

This quilt hangs in our church. It is huge, bigger than it looks to you here perhaps without anything for scale. It's striking and beautiful. It was made a while back, before we made this church our home. The organizers asked everyone in the congregation to bring in some green fabric. Green. Huh.

Does ALL of that fabric look green to you? Yeah, me neither. Most of it is green in one shade or another, but I certainly see some blue in there, and a little brown, and even a little red. Strange, huh? But you know what? To the folks who brought in that fabric, their contributions were green. To them.

That's the beauty of my church. They don't turn anyone away. Even if that someone sees blue the way most people see green.

We just became what is called a Reconciliation Church, meaning we accept everyone. Everyone. Specifically, everyone regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. Everyone.

Because you know what? We're not all the same. We're not all straight and we don't all see green as the same hue. And that's okay. Actually it's good. No, it's great. Our differences add immeasurably to the diversity of our lives, our communities, and our world. Just like the "blues," "browns," and "reds" add beautiful touches to this quilt. This beautiful quilt that is more than just a quilt. This beautiful quilt that physically represents the attitude of our community. So so beautiful.

Spring Recital

They played beautifully! And now we have a little break from violin, which will be nice for everyone. Back to it in July!

Garden tour

The nasturtium I planted in my barrels are coming along nicely.

Here's the whole garden, growing and growing.

Radishes!
My herb wheel is filling in quite a bit.
Chives!

 Spinach!

 Onions!

 Lettuce!

 Beans!

A little helper coming over to check my work.

Peas!
These sunflowers were started inside and are getting stronger and straighter every day.
And finally, I planted CLIMBING nasturtium in this basket! I can't wait to see these bloom.
